Information For New Collector

ORGANIZATIONS FOR COLLECTORS OF ORDERS MEDALS AND DECORTIONS:  A number of organizations exist around the world for collectors, historians, and others interested in Orders, Medals, and Decorations. Depending upon interest and language ability, most serious collectors belong to one or more of these groups.  The major organizations are listed below with contact information:

THE ORDERS AND MEDALS SOCIETY OF AMERICA:  This organization has provided services and information to those interested in U.S. medals and decorations, British ODM, and orders, medals and decorations of the world for over fifty years through a professional journal published six times per year, books written by members and published by the society, and an annual four day convention each August with seminars, exhibits, and  more good material to buy, sell, or trade than most see in years.  Today, the society hosts an interactive website at http://www.omsa.org.  See links for direct access from this website, or contact the OMSA Secretary at PO Box 198, San Ramon, CA 94583. 

THE ORDERS AND MEDALS RESEARCH SOCIETY:  Another valuable resource, the OMRS concentrates on orders and medals of England and the British Empire.  They publish a quarterly journal and host an annual convention in London each September. THE MILITARY COLLECTOR’S CLUB OF CANADA:  Mr. John Zabarylo, PO Box 64009, 525 London Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R2K 3Y4, Canada.

BUND DEUTCHER ORDENSSAMMLER:  Mr. Klaus Vogt, Secretary of Protocol, Sigmundsgraben 40, D-95028 Hof/Saale, Germany.  The German Society publishes a high quality journal of value even to those who do not speak the language.
